This Week: Women in the Military, 'James and the Giant Peach,' Xbox One Launch and More

Five things in and around McLean this week.

Women in the Military: What is it like to be a female officer in the armed forces? The local chapter of the American Association of University Women is hosting a free program at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the McLean Community Center to explore that question. The all female panel includes an Air Force pilot, a retired Navy commander and a retired Army colonel. More information here.

Xbox One Launch Party: The celebration at the Microsoft store at the Tysons Corner Center starts at 10 p.m. Thursday for the midnight launch of the new Xbox One. Try out the new gaming system, play Forza Motorsport 5 and more. Information here.

'James and the Giant Peach': The Langley School's middle school students will present "James and the Giant Peach" on stage for three nights this week. The students will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the school's Sherman Arts Center, 1411 Balls Hill Road. Tickets are $8 each. More info here.

JFK Walk: Join the FreeWalkers for a 22-mile walk on Friday to pay homage to President John F. Kennedy on the 50th anniversary of his death. The free event starts at 6:30 a.m. Friday at Roosevelt Island, goes through the district and culminates at the Kennedy gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery. More information here.
