Block Party on Chain Bridge Road, Restaurant Week Wraps Up, Varsity Football and More

The weekend is here! How are you going to spend it in and around McLean?

Block Party on Chain Bridge Road: The Old Firehouse Teen Center is holding its 23rd Anniversary Block Party from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday at 1440 Chain Bridge Road. Admission is free. The day will feature a dunk tank, moon bounce, live music plus a McLean Teens Got Talent competition. More info here.

Restaurant Week Wraps Up This WeekendSummer 2013 Restaurant Week lasts through the weekend. More than 200 restaurants in the greater Washington area are participating — including Assaggi Osteria, Capri Ristorante Italiano and four other McLean restaurants. Click the link above and then search by neighborhood for the complete list. Participating restaurants will offer three-course meals for a set price — $20.13 for lunch or $35.13 for dinner.

Varsity Football: The McLean High School varsity football team will play a scrimmage game at Patriot High School at 6 p.m. Friday.

Go Batty: Get a whole new outlook on local nightlife at the Gulf Branch Nature Center Bat Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Enjoy live bat shows, a festive lantern parade, games, crafts and more. The nature center is located at 3608 N. Military Road in Arlington. Register online at https://registration.arlingtonva.us or call 703-228-4747. There is a $7 fee per participant.

Block Party at Bourbon Steak: Bourbon Steak at the Georgetown Four Season's Hotel is hosting a good old-fashioned block party, featuring, what else, Old Fashioneds. For $70 per person (includes tax and gratuity) you can enjoy food, drink and lots of Old Fashioneds. Top mixologists from the city's most popular cocktail spots — like The Gibson and The Occidental — will be mixing up their version of Old Fashioneds in a competition. The party starts at noon Saturday. Tickets are available online.
