Nice article and fun facts. Not sure what forecast you're looking at, though. Mine says snow TuesdayRead More night!

Spring snow, Arva! The old man's dead. Or so I wish. " (We'll consider Tuesday's chance of snowRead More showers a brief evil side of spring.)"
Davin Peterson March 21, 2014 at 12:26 pm
It may be spring, but there is a chance of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday of next week.

I worked for National Geographic magazine for 38 years and would often see Mr. Breeden around theRead More "campus." He was an old-school gentleman, always polite and handsomely dressed. That continued into his retirement: I'd often run into Bob and his wife at McLean Family Restaurant, and no matter the time of day, they always looked like they had come straight from church. He'd open the door with a smile and a few kind words--always the gentleman.

I likely have talked with Christopher. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. This is veryRead More sad.

Condolences to the McLean Hardware family and to Christopher's family. You are all an integral partRead More of our community - so helpful and friendly to all your customers - and always greeting everyone with a smile, as exemplified by this nice photo of your employee. This is very sad.

sorry about those typos above. I need computer reading glasses. Mr. Mehr also encouraged all ofRead More the other small businesses in McLean. When he told me to purchase something and I was half-way down his dirt road, he yelled after me , "Be sure to buy it at McLean Hardware - it's family run". One Christmas, I was in bed recovering from something and called Zoe to ask about the possibility of delivering a Christmas trees. She said they didn't do it. Next thing I knew there was an enormous Christmas tree from Mr. Mehr in our front hall. And he would not take cash for it. Such a great man. He will be sorely missed.

Stan! Although we were of different political persuasions I also enjoyed his deep interest inRead More national and local politics. I would offer to drive him to the retiree luncheon and found refreshing the one on one discussions which took place up until about two years ago. When I came to work at USDA in the early 60's we were in the same division and he was happy to help out a newcomer from California. He was devastated by Maria's passing after their extremely long partnership. His flowers have brought much happiness throughout the community.

I will never forget the advice and good memories from visiting this great little garden in the suburbs! Randall Murphy M & M Foliage Inc

This is a tragic loss. A fine young man. The United States may be the only developed country in theRead More world not to have most of its key electrical wiring located underground. Having overhead wires that are vulnerable to this kind of damage is just one sign of how far our once-great country is falling behind. Since mouth-to-mouth resuscitation is cited twice in the article, it is worth noting that this method has been discredited and that immediate chest compression is more effective although, in this instance, it probably would have made no difference. Again, we've lost a fine young man.

Though the official incident report allegedly did not give a response time, it was said that downedRead More trees and wires on the way to the scene delayed the arrival of county rescue workers for up to one-half hour.
