Wolf Raises More Than $750K, Top Donors From McLean

Incumbent congressman has more than five times campaign funds as challenger Cabral's $138,054.

With the election less than two months away, politican campaigns are heating up, including Virginia's 10th congressional district race. Both candidates in the race are keeping busy. Local Democrats gathered Sunday in McLean for a fundraising reception to benefit Democrat Kristin Cabral, who is running for Congress. Meanwhile, incumbent Congressman Frank R. Wolf, Jr., spent his Saturday campaigning in Prince William County's Haymarket, where he was getting to know some of his new constituents. Haymarket was added to Virginia's 10th congressional district after redistricting. McLean resident Cabral, a 46-year-old Harvard Law grad, federal prosecutor and mother of two, is running against Republican Wolf, 73, of Vienna. Wolf and his wife have …

This article focuses on fund raising. It should focus on the policy positions of the candidates. Wolf has been in Congress for 32 years and has a weak legislative record. He has identified with Republican Presidents throughout his tenure in Congress. He has not introduced major legislation and has voted against legislation supporting veterans benefits, women's health, unemployment benefits. …   more ›

Northern Virginia voters will choose among Democrats, Republicans and Independent candidates in congressional races come November.

UPDATE (3:45 p.m.) The State Board of Elections confirmed today that Chris DeCarlo and Mark Gibson, running in the 11th District, were verified with 1,000 signatures each earlier today.  “I can’t thank everyone enough: Friends, friends of friends, neighbors, colleagues, and complete strangers,” Gibson said in a news release. “These are all voters who want to get involved in our political process, giving voters a greater number and more diverse selection of candidates for Congress.  Getting on the ballot is a strong victory for democracy.” --- Independent candidates running for Congress had until June 12 to turn in 1,000 signatures to get on the ballot in November. Democrat Kristin Cabral Launches Campaign Against Incumbent Frank Wolf

The Fairfax attorney hopes to break gridlock in Congress and says "this mother can do it."

The courtyard next to the Leesburg Town Hall on Saturday served as the venue for Democrat Kristin Cabral to officially launch her campaign in the 10th congressional district against incumbent U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R). Cabral, a McLean resident, made her gender a primary theme, likely one of the reasons Clarke County School Board member Barbara Lee spoke during the event. In Clarke County, women hold two of five seats on the board of supervisors and three of five seats on the school board as well as serve as treasurer, commonwealth’s attorney, commissioner of the revenue and clerk of the court. Women also hold five seats on two town councils in Clarke County and the state Senate seat that represents the county. “We know and appreciate good…

It is time for change in Virginia's 10th Congressional District and Kristin Cabral is the perfect choice to lead the way forward. As my friend, Wes Callender, points out: "Congressman Frank Wolf on the Issues; Are these Fairfax values?? Wolf is widely perceived as a "moderate" but his record reveals that he is Right-Conservative. There's nothing like a voting record to show the truth! Rated 0% by…   more ›

McLean Gets New Congressman as 10th District Shrinks

U.S. Rep. James Moran now represents southern half of McLean

Half of McLean has become part of the 8th Congressional District represented by U.S. Rep. Jim Moran (D) as part of a massive redistricting of Virginia's 11 congressional districts by the state legislature and Gov. Bob McDonnell. Previously, all of McLean was part of the 10th Congressional District represented by U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R). Now McLean is split between two congressmen. Previously the 10th District went to the Arlington County line. Now it stops at Route 123 (Dolley Madison Boulevard). That means the southern half of McLean, the Democratic half, is now part of the 8th District. The 10th Congressional District had to lose 100,000 voters, because  Virginia grew by nearly 925,000 in the past 10 years, mostly in Northern Virgina. …
