Anne Holton will kick off canvassing event Saturday from McLean residence.
Anne Holton, the wife of Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine, will host a campaign event from a McLean residence on Sunday. Holton will speak with volunteers from the home of local resident Cora Yamamoto and kick off canvassing in the area starting Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Holton will then visit the Virginia Victory 2012 office in Alexandria to thank Kaine campaign volunteers. Tim Kaine, a former governor of Virginia, is running against George Allen, also a former Virginia governor and a former U.S. senator, for the U.S. Senate seat. Anne Holton, wife of Virginia senator candidate Tim Kaine, visited the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center on Tuesday as part of a two-stop tour in Northern Virginia. The center, which currently serves 70 children, has offered affordable pre-K options for about 40-years. “Throughout his career, Tim has always advocated for programs that provide Virginia’s children with the support they need to live healthy, successful lives,” Holton said in a written statement. “As governor, he worked with the legislature to expand the number of children in pre-K by nearly 40 percent and helped pass a bipartisan, record higher education bond package to renovate and construct academic facilities across the state. Both a daughter and wife of Virginia governors, Holton embarked on a listening tour of Northern Virginia on Saturday in support of her husband's candidacy for the U.S Senate.
Former Virginia first lady Anne Holton is going full speed ahead campaigning for husband Tim Kaine, the former governor who hopes to get elected to the U.S. Senate come November. Most polls show a race between Democrat Kaine and probable GOP candidate George Allen as "neck and neck" as Holton herself put it Saturday. Married more than 25 years, Holton and Kaine first met when both were students at Harvard Law School.
