Requirement: Tdap booster or proof of tetanus-containing vaccine in past five years
All students in Virginia must receive a booster dose of Tdap vaccine prior to entering 6th grade, if at least five years have passed since the last dose of toxoid-containing vaccine (DTP, DTaP, DT, or Td), according to Fairfax County Public Schools and Alexandria City Public Schools. Incumbent School Board member Jane Strauss supports the formula. The Post school said, "In a nutshell, schools with high proportions of poor children and non-native English speakers get more teachers and thus lower class sizes than their more affluent counterparts. "This is called “needs-based staffing,” and its proponents say it’s an efficient, flexible way to make sure that extra resources are finding …

The House bill on early school opening (HB 1063) -- which I support - is still moving forward in the House and was voted out of a House subcommittee yesterday 7-1 and will be taken up in the full Committee on Monday. We have the Governor's support and the support of House leadership so we are hopeful for the outcome on the House floor. At that time, the Senate will have an opportunity to take up …   more ›
