Tradition Homes, a McLean-based developer, is constructing two new homes on a parcel of land in the Franklin Park area, where, for decades, only one home stood. And some neighbors in the community are not satisfied with the site plans. The 36,000 square foot parcel, located at 1872 Rhode Island Ave., originally consisted of three narrow "railroad" lots. Tradition Homes demolished the existing home, consolidated those lots and subdivided the property to accommodate two new residences. Wallace Sansone, president of the Franklin Area Citizens Association, has expressed concerns for months about the project, including the number of trees that have been razed and the effects the two new homes will have on stormwater runoff into a creek bed …

No Charges Filed
UPDATE: March 27.The Fairfax County Fire Department has closed its investigation in the fire at the McLean home of a U.S. District Court judge with no charges placed. The two-alarm fire in a second floor bedroom was "intentionally set," but no charges were filed, Dan Schmidt, a spokesman for the Fairfax County Fire Department, said Tuesday morning. The fire occurred the evening of Dec. 5 at the Franklin Park home of U.S. District Court Judge Liam O'Grady. Most expensive house bought in The Reserve
Below are the home sales recorded by the Fairfax Department of Taxation for the month of August in the two McLean zip codes, 22101 and 22102. The most expensive house was bought in The Reserve for $2.3 million followed closely by a $2.2 million sale in Franklin Park. The Reserve is one the newest McLean neighborhoods. Guess we don't have a choice, do we? If someone wants to buy a big lot in FP and effectively scorch the land until they can squeeze as much profit out of it as possible, they can do it. When was the last time any new development was ever stopped in FP? And, wait, the creek down by Chesterbrook is pretty much gone now.
