The Langley Saxons came out on top on Saturday, 27-7.
The Langley High and McLean High regular varsity football seasons came to a close on Saturday when the Langley Saxons decisively defeated the McLean Highlanders, 27-7. The game was played at Langley High School. The Saxons will take on Hayfield High School at home for their first playoff game of the year. McLean High School did not qualify for the playoffs, with a regular season record of four wins, six losses. Langley won six out of 10 of its regular season games. One week before facing off in the big rivalry game, the McLean High School and Langley High School varsity football teams will face off against other Fairfax County schools. McLean will take on Thomas Jefferson at home. Langley will play Fairfax High School in Fairfax. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. On Nov. 2, McLean and Langley will play each other in the final game of the regular season at Langley High School

Both local teams came out on top Friday night.
The McLean High and Langley High varsity football teams are on a winning streak. For a second week in a row, both teams defeated their opponents. Langley beat the Thomas Jefferson Colonials in Arlington, 14-6. McLean bested Falls Church, 36-12. Friday night marked the second week of the high school football season. On Aug. 30, McLean toppled Washington-Lee High School in Arlington and Langley beat Herndon at home. Next week, McLean will take on Fairfax High School at home. Langley will travel to Chantilly.

After the Langley Saxons defeated the Herndon Hornets on Thursday night, the dance team definitely has something to celebrate. The dance team will performance at halftime on Sept. 21, when the football team takes on Marshall High School at home. In the meantime, check out the team's new video.

Langley and McLean beat Herndon and Washington-Lee on Thursday to begin 2012 season
Three short years ago, Max Chernoff, 17, began his freshman year at Langley High School. On Thursday night, as the school gathered at a pep rally before the season's first football game, Max couldn't believe it had all passed by so quickly. "Time flew by," said Max, a senior this year, standing in the high school's parking lot as a friend painted his face with the Langley Saxons colors. "I can remember walking in as a freshman three years ago," he said. "And now we're here." Max voiced what many seniors must be feeling just days before school officially starts Tuesday. New McLean HS football coach discusses his objectives and plans for next football season
Dennis Worek, the new head coach for the McLean High School varsity football team, met his new colleagues and neighbors Wednesday evening. Worek began “Meet the Coach Night” by sharing his life, starting with his childhood in Glassport, Pa. “My dad worked in the steel mill for 45 years, so it was a rough life. You get a great work ethic,” said Worek. “The only way out of that town was by sports or winning the lottery, and we didn’t win the lottery.” Worek went on to get a full athletic football scholarship to East Carolina University, but injured his knee playing basketball his senior year in high school. He transferred to a division 2 school in Pennsylvania called Clarion University, graduating in 1974. He then made his move to Northern …

New Football Coach Brings Liberty District Experience to McLean
Dennis Worek is the new head varsity football coach at McLean High School and the community can meet him this evening. Worek has experience in various Liberty District football programs. He most recently coached at Jefferson as the defensive coordinator for the past two years. Years earlier, Worek was the coach at Langley and Madison, and he led the Warhawks to win the Virginia AAA Northern Region championship game in 1996. “As far as coaching in Northern Virginia, I’ve always competed against McLean, and it has always been a strong program. I can’t think of a better place,” Worek said. Worek has held various positions in his more than 30 years with Fairfax County Public Schools, but now considers himself a retired administrator.
