McLean Native Walks Away Empty-Handed From 'Shark Tank'

Derek Pacque invented a ticketless coat check system and pitched the idea to investors on ABC's "Shark Tank," which aired nationwide Friday night.

McLean High Class of 2007 graduate Derek Pacque, the inventor of a digital coat check platform, asked a panel of investors on ABC's "Shark Tank" for $200,000 in exchange for a 10 percent stake in his company, and he walked away with nothing. The show aired nationwide on ABC Friday evening. Mark Cuban, a businessman and owner of the Dallas Mavericks, told Pacque that his business plan was "horrible." "I’m telling you. Your business plan is horrible," Cuban said. Nevertheless, Cuban offered Pacque $200,000 for a 33 percent stake in Coat Chex, but Pacque declined the offer. "I’m in dead shock that I just turned down a deal from Mark Cuban," Pacque said at the end of the segment. For more information about Pacque's company, visit the Coat Chex…
