On June 14th, Langley High School celebrated the graduation of the class of 2012 at D.A.R. Constitution Hall
As the Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr., the Langley 2012 graduation keynote speaker, spoke about his exercise habits, he raised a pair of his gym sneakers in the air that held bright, highlighter colored shoelaces. This gesture epitomized the philanthropy the Class of 2012 has become known for within the McLean community. As a way to help support Langley basketball coach, Travis Hess, whose one-year-old daughter, Gianna, had been diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, the varsity boys’ basketball team and the school raised thousands of dollars by selling these very shoelaces. “Langley knows service,” said Clapper as he praised the accomplishments of the class, while also giving a pitch why they should work for Uncle Sam. …

9/11 Brought McLean Two of Our most Secret Neighbors
Three times a day, officials sit in a windowless secure videoconference room in one of McLean's most secure buildings and give other high-ranking officials around the government a rundown of the most prominent terrorist threats facing the U.S. The first briefing of the day occurs at 1 a.m. The biggest occurs at 8 a.m. The last at 3 p.m. The building works like a factory with three shifts a day. These briefings are central to the job description of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), one of McLean's newest secret neighbors, spawned directly from the ashes of Seot. 11. Parents Accept Second Highest Intelligence Medal
The director of National Intelligence, one of McLean's secret neighbors, recently presented the second highest intelligence community award for bravery to the parents of an Ohio Marine killed in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. Marines website. This is a rare glimpse into what goes on in those heavily guarded buildings called Liberty Crossing. Sgt. Lucas T. Pyeatt, 24, was posthumously awarded the Intelligence Community Medal for Valor during the ceremony at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence Headquarters in McLean, the Marines reported.
