Barbara Comstock vs Pamela Danner
Del. Barbara Comstock and attorney Pamela Danner, both McLean residents, competed in one of only two House of Delegate races, that cost more than $1 million, according to campaign finance reports filed Dec.1. The cost of the campaign between Comstock, who was running for a second term, and Danner who sought to unseat her, totaled $1.3 million. In the House, where Republican control was never in doubt, the number of million dollar races plummeted to two from nine in 2007, Virginia Public Access Project said. VPAP is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that organizes campaign finance reports to that ordinary folks can understand them. Comstock won the battle for the 34th House district, a swing district, which includes Mclean, Great …

Presidential Contender Herman Cain is Coming to Tysons Corner, Again: Republican presidential aspirant Cain liked Tysons Corner so much he returns Monday. This time he's here to collect money: Friends of Herman Cain are giving a fundraiser at the Hilton McLean. Tickets range from $50 to $5,000. A $5,000 donation gets you into a "private reception" with the candidate, 8 VIP tickets and a photo op, presumably also with the candidate. Cain spoke to the Northern Virginia Technology Council earlier in November. Danners Off to See New Grandson: Unsuccessful Virginia delegate candidate Pamela Danner put down her campaign signs and leaflets and she husband David headed off to Italy right after the election. Virginia Tracks Large Donations Given in the Final Days Before An Election
Democratic candidates running in a House and Senate district that includes McLean led their Republican opponents in contributions exceeding $500 in reports filed two weeks before Tuesday's election. The Virginia Public Access Project reported that in the 31st Senate District race Democrat Barbara Favola was leading her Republican opponent Caren Merrick. In the 34th House District race Democrat Pamela Danner was leading Republican incumbent Barbara Comstock. Comstock had been the leading fundraiser in all of Virginia based on campaign finance reports filed the end of September and reported by VPAP. Eric Cantor. Comstock, who is running for re-election to a second term in the Virginia House of Delegates from the 34th District, raised nearly $230,000 in cash in September including $100,000 from a PAC controlled by House Speaker Bill Howell, plus another $25,000 directly from Howell and $25,000 from Gov. Appears at Fundraiser for Pamela Danner
Former Gov. Tim Kaine headlined a fundraiser for delegate candidate Pamela Danner on Tuesday night and gave a master class in Virginia politics. Kaine, a Democrat who is running for a Virginia U.S. Senate seat in 2012, told the estimated 80 guests gathered at a Langley Farms home that the upcoming November elections would have a low turnout because there is no major top-of-the ticket race. On Nov. 8, Virginia voters elect the 100-member House of Delegates, the 40-member state Senate and county and school board offices. "There will be more close races because of the low turnout," he said. Danner is challenging Republican incumbent Barbara Comstock, R-34, who won the seat two years ago by 422 votes. Kaine forecast "this race will be closer …
