The 2013 Animal Planet Puppy Bowl IX is the "cutest sports event of the year" and is on Super Bowl Sunday right before Super Bowl 47.
The ninth annual Puppy Bowl will again air before the 2013 Super Bowl. Check out the cuteness on Animal Planet from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. (ET) Sunday, Feb. 3. Puppy Bowl IX includes puppies from Virginia-based Bonnie Blue Rescue and other organizations. (Read about the Virginia connection to Puppy Bowl 2013 here.) The 2013 Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet will include, of course, 35 puppies in addition to hedgehog cheerleaders, the super-slow Cute Cam, a puppy hot tub for the athletes to rest their sore muscles and a kitty halftime show. Football players from right here in Virginia may take the field for Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3.
There are no professional football players from McLean playing in the 2013 Super Bowl (coming up this Sunday, Feb. 3) , but there are plenty from Virginia who may take the field for the Baltimore Ravens or the San Francisco 49ers. When these two teams square off Sunday, it will be the fifth time they've met since the 1996 season. Baltimore has won three games — in 2003, 2007 and 2011. San Francisco won in 1996. Virginia Natives on the San Francisco 49ers Roster Ahmad Brooks is a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers who had 50 tackles in 2011 and is on track to beat that this year. Ravens, 49ers fans set to gather at sports bars in McLean and around the region.
Super Bowl XLVII is coming up this Sunday, Feb. 3 in New Orleans — the Baltimore Ravens will face the San Francisco 49ers. An added twist for the 2013 Super Bowl is brother vs. brother head coaches.
