Theatre Camp Opens its ‘Doors’ to Public

Traveling Players Ensemble will host an open house at the Madeira School.

Traveling Players Ensemble will host an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday on the grounds of The Madeira School, where it has held its summer theatre camp since 2007. Parents, teachers and teens can meet the staff and returning campers at this informal open house. The event includes walking tours of Madeira, Q&A sessions and theater games for children. Visitors should wear shoes for walking in the woods. The open house will conclude with a performance of David Mamet's “The Poet and The Rent” by Traveling Players' middle school performance class. Tips for the Neighbors

Protect Yourself, or Your Teen, From Abusive Relationships

Safe Community Coalition presents community forum on healthy relationships and abusive relationships for teens.

The McLean High School auditorium was filled to near-capacity Thursday night for a presentation on healthy teen relationships and dating.  The forum, "What's Love Got to do With It?" was sponsored by the Safe Community Coalition, in partnership with the McLean High School PTSA, Langley High School PTSA, The Madeira School, and Thomas Jefferson High School PTSA. Those attending the community forum represented a cross-section of individuals whose lives have been or could be affected by teen dating issues.  The audience was filled with teens and older students, parents, grandparents, and mental health professionals, among others.  Dranesville Supervisor John Foust attended along with representatives of Fairfax County Police Department, …
