McLean's Andy Riemer Drafted to Major League Soccer

Former Georgetown University star will start with the LA Galaxy this week.

If you're a Major League Soccer fan, you'll soon see a local McLean face on the national stage. McLean native Andy Riemer was picked up Tuesday by the LA Galaxy in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. He was the team's first pick and the sixth overall in the nationwide draft. Riemer, who turned 22 on Monday, had drawn attention at the collegiate level as a left midfielder for Georgetown University, helping the team reach the College Cup Final for the first time ever in 2012, according to the LA Galaxy. He started all 25 games in 2012, and made 62 starts throughout his time as a Hoya, scoring 21 goals and 8 assists throughout his career.
