No Lights at Spring Hill, McLean Board Snubbed, Comstock District Rumors

News From Around McLean

---No Spring Hill Lights.  The parking lot of the Spring Hill Rec Center was bereft of lights Friday night. Problem: kids, moms and the rest of us use the parking lot and don't feel safe in a dark, large parking lot.

---McLean Community Center Board Snubbed. The MCC Board invited the public to stop by Wednesday night to talk about its programs. Not one single person showed up for that part of the agenda.

Executive director George Sachs had staff members standing by to answer citizen questions. The community center board invites taxpayers in twice a year --- in March to talk about programs and in September to talk about the budget. All its meetings are open to the public, but members of the public seldom attend.

Ben Tribbett, who writes an online column about Virginia politics called, Not Larry Sabato, published an article last week saying Republicans are floating redistricting maps that show the district of our delegate, Barbara Comstock, R-34, expanding into western Vienna and Loudoun County.

"Comstock has been rumored to want some Loudoun precincts since she was elected so she could make her way into Loudoun delegation events in preparation to run for the Congressional seat currently held by Frank Wolf," Tribbett wrote.
