12:06am. Jane Strauss has retained the Dranesville School Board seat after a bitter race against school activist Louise Epstein.

Both teacher organizations had endorsed Epstein.

John Foust handily won reelection as Dranesville supervisor.

10:44 pm. Dranesville School board incumbent Jane Strauss leads in the hotly contested race against Louise Epstein with more than half the precincents counted.

Dranesville Supervisor John Foust won handily over his Republican opponent Dennis Husch.

Republican incumbent Barbara Comstock continues to lead her Democratic opponent Pamela Danner.

9:51 pm. Incumbent Dranesville Supervisor has large lead against Republican challenger Dennis Husch with a little over a third of the 30 precincts reporting.

Incumbent Republican Del. Barbara Comstock continues to lead challenger Pamela Danner with 50 percent of the precincts reporting.

9:33 pm. Dranesville School Board challenger Louise Epstein has taken a slight lead against incumbent Jane Strauss.

Democratic Incumbent Janet Howell continues to maintain her lead over Republican challenger Patrick Forrest.

Dranesville Supervisor John Foust leading with 57 percent of the vote over Republican challenger Dennis Husch with seven out of 30 precincts reporting.

9:20 p.m. Dranesville Supervisor John Foust has small lead over Republican challenger Dennis Husch with six out of 30 precincts reporting.

Incumbent school board member Jane Strauss has a slight lead over challenger Louise Epstein in earlier returns with six out of 30 precincts reporting.

This one will go down to the wire.

9:15 p.m. Latest Election Returns for races involving McLean:

Incumbent Republican Barbara Comstock is leading her Democratic challenger Pamela Danner with four out of  24 precincts reporting.

The Associated Press has called the 31st Senate race for Democrat Barbara Favola.

31st Senate: The Virginia Public Access Project reports that the Associated Press has declared Barbara Favola the winner of the 31st Senate District seat.

She lead with 67 percent of the vote with more than half of the precincts reporting.

8:46 p.m. Half of precincts have reported and Democrat Barbara Favola continues to lead Republican businesswoman and McLean resident Caren Merrick with 27 out of  54 percincts reporting. 

32nd Senate -9:05 p.m. Janet Howell continues to enjoy a comfortable lead with a third of the vote in.

8:46 pm.Incumbent Democrat Janet Howell enjoys a comfortable lead ahead of her opponent attorney Patrick Forrest.

34th House District: Still no numbers for the race of Incumbent Republican Barbara Comstock and her Democratic Challenger Pamela Danner.

McLean is home to two of the most watched races this year: 31st Senate seat where Democrat Barbara Favola, a 14-year member of the Arlington Board faces businesswomen Caren Merrick and the 34th House District race between incumbent Republican Barbara Comstock and attorney and long-time community volunteer Pamela Danner.

The backdrop for this year's election --- whether the Democrats can keep control of the Virginia Senate. The Republicans control the governor's office and the House of Delegates.
