Traffic Alert: Major Lane Closings of Beltway, I-66 Overnight This Week

Here's a list of this week's traffic challenges brought to you by the simultaneous construction of the new Silver Line and the express (aka HOT) lanes through Tysons Corner and McLean.

I-495 north and south from Idylwood Rd. overpass to Exit 50, Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) - Three lanes closed Monday - Saturday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

I-495 south from Exit 50, Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) to Exit 51, Gallows Rd. (Route 650) - Three left lanes closed Thursday and Friday nights for overhead sign work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east to I-66 west - Ramp closed intermittently for up to 30 minutes after midnight Monday - Saturday nights for overhead sign installation.

Eastbound Dulles Connector Road ramps to Route 123 closing overnight next week
 
Drivers using the eastbound Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) will not be able to exit to Route 123 overnights next week. Here are the details of those closures:
 
Ramp from Eastbound Route 267 to Southbound Route 123 CLOSED
Sunday, Feb. 26 - Tuesday, Feb. 28 and Thursday, March 1 - Friday, March 2, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Detour: Exit on to northbound Route 123, right on Great Falls Street, right on [Old] Chain Bridge Road, right on Anderson Road, to access southbound Route 123.

Crews will be installing acoustical barriers on the bridge overhead.
 
Ramp from Eastbound Route 267 to Northbound Route 123 CLOSED
Wednesday, Feb. 29, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Detour: Take the exit to southbound Route 123, turn left at the signalized intersection on to northbound Route 123.

Crews will be installing permanent striping on that ramp
 
Police will be onsite to assist.
              
Ramp, Lane Closures at I-495/Route 123 Interchange Continue Overnights Next Week
 
Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project overhead bridge construction at the I-495/Route 123 interchange will force the closures of one ramp overnights next week.
 
Ramp from Northbound I-495 to Southbound Route 123. Monday, Feb. 27 - Friday, March 2, 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Detour: Drivers will be detoured by exiting on to northbound Route 123 instead, turning right on Old Meadow Road, left on Colshire Meadow Drive, left on Colshire Drive, then left on to southbound Route 123.
 
In addition, the right lane of southbound Route 123 will be closed from 500 feet south of Capital One Drive to the east side of I-495 Monday through Thursday nights from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday night from 9:30 p.m. to 9 a.m., to support the overhead bridge and station construction.
 
Eastbound Tysons Boulevard to Close Monday through Friday Nights
 
The eastbound lanes of Tysons Boulevard will be closed between Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) and Galleria Drive Sunday through Friday nights, Feb. 26-March 2, for overhead bridge, pier and station work near the future Tysons Central 123 station.
 
This also will require the closures of the turn lanes on to eastbound Tysons Boulevard from northbound Chain Bridge Road (Route 123), and northbound and southbound Galleria Drive. Generally, these lane closures will begin to be implemented at 9:30 p.m. each night, and will be lifted between 5 a.m. each following morning.

I-495 south to Exit 45B, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east - Ramp closed Monday - Friday nights for bridge overhang work. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east.
Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east at I-495 north - Road closed Monday and Tuesday nights for bridge deck pour. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east.

Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east to I-495 north - Ramp closed Monday - Friday nights for bridge overhang work. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north, stay to the right and follow signs to I-495 north. 

I-495 north to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north - Ramp closed Sunday night for barrier movement. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-495 south, stay to the right to enter onto Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north.

Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north to I-495 south - Ramp closed Thursday night for overhead sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue north, follow signs to I-495 north, stay to the right, enter onto Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, stay to the right and follow signs to I-495 south.

Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north at Westpark Dr. overpass - Right lane closed Thursday night for overhead sign installation.

I-495 north from Oak St. overpass to Exit 47, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) - Three left lanes closed Monday - Saturday nights for traffic shift. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

I-495 north to Exit 47A and B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west and east - Ramps closed Friday and Saturday nights for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 47A or B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west or east.

Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east to I-66 west - Ramp closed intermittently for up to 30 minutes after midnight Sunday - Saturday nights for overhead sign installation.

I-66 west to I-495 south - Ramp closed Monday - Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Exit 62, Nutley St. south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-66 east to I-495 south.

I-66 west from Exit 67, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) to Exit 64, I-495 - Two lanes closed Monday - Saturday nights for utility work and traffic shift. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight
