Northern Region Soccer Playoffs Begin Tonight in McLean, Langley, McLean Both Compete

The McLean boys and girls soccer teams, who swept the Liberty District Tournaments last week, will host games this evening on the McLean High School field. 

The McLean Lady Highlanders (11-5 overall and 5-2 in district play) will face the Concorde District Westfield Bulldogs (6-5-3 overall and 2-3 in district play).  The match begins at 5:30pm at McLean High School.

McLean coach Rob Bouchard says "the girls will have a tough match up with Westfield. Westfield is a very skilled and utilizes their speed. This will be one of the most physical games we will play this season. "

The McLean boys (10-4-2 overall and 4-3 in district play) will host the Oakton Cougars of the Concorde Division (10-3-1 overall and 4-1 in district play).  The Cougars were ranked No. 4 in last week's Washington Post boys' soccer rankings.  The match begins at 7:30pm.

The McLean boys lost to Oakton early in the season on a last minute goal in regulation play.  Two goals scored by McLean were overturned by the referee in that game.

The McLean boys have won five straight games and six of the last seven.

The McLean girls have won their last four games and five of the last six.

At Langley High School tonight, the Saxons (12-3-1 and 5-1-1 in district play) host Concorde Division Chantilly Chargers (5-10-1 and 1-4 in district play).  Langley was ranked No. 9 in the Post rankings last week.

The match begins at 7pm.
